We believe traditional law firms, legal technology providers and claims administrators are no longer meeting the needs of the businesses they serve. Our mission is to change that by creating expert-led, purpose-driven offerings that put client needs first.

All our businesses operate exclusively on a fixed-fee model. This philosophy shapes how we work, who we hire, and how we lead, giving our clients cost certainty, full transparency and the freedom seek support without fear of budget blowout.

Our Story

Since 2016, we’ve set out to do things differently.  

In that year, Founder + CEO Demetrio Zema, a young lawyer on the brink of burnout, envisioned a true alternative to the traditional law firm model, one that served both clients and lawyers. He believed the legal profession needed a reimagining of how value is defined, delivered, and rewarded, moving away from time-based billing and individual financial metrics.    

Determined to create a better way to engage legal services — one that prioritised outcomes and relationships over hours billed — Law Squared was born.  

From day one, we’ve never charged by the hour — and we never will. We’re convinced that the traditional time-based billing model doesn’t serve either lawyers or clients. It rewards inefficiency, undermines trust, and contributes to the burnout so prevalent in the profession.   

Instead, our exclusively fixed-fee model offers cost certainty, radical transparency, and a genuine alignment between cost and value. It’s designed for outcomes, not inputs. 

Law Squared’s core values of radical transparency, trust, and client-first thinking influence everything we do. They continue to guide us as we grow, evolve and innovate.    

The launch of Cubed and Tetra Claims in 2025 builds on all that we’ve learned from our clients, community and journey so far. These newer businesses reflect the growing demand for innovation, transparency, and smarter solutions across the industries we serve, and will allow us to make meaningful and needed change in the legal technology and insurance sectors, in addition to legal services.   

With the formation of Squared Group, we’re better positioned to see across siloes, identify trends, capitalise on efficiencies and maintain clear focus on innovation.
